5.2.1 Sensor Site Symbols
The round symbols on the map represent the sensor sites on the airport, see
. The color of the sensor site symbols is configured individually for each system. If
selected with the
Show site info
button, the site numbers are displayed inside the site
symbol.
The number of sites and the sensors included in the sites are established during the
configuration of the system. Normally each site includes a wind speed and wind direction
sensor that forms a wind site.
When there is no connection to the sensor and the wind speed or wind direction data are
missing, there is a cross across the site symbol.
5.2.2 Sensor Site Legend
Typically, when the mouse is positioned on a sensor site symbol, a sensor site legend is
displayed, indicating the wind speed and wind direction data for the sensor site. The text in
the legend can be, for example,
WS08: 110/9
.
5.2.3 Wind Flags
The site symbols have wind indicator flags attached to them. These flags represent the wind
sensors installed in the site.
The wind indicators consist of flags with bars at the end of the flag to indicate wind speed
and direction. The bars combine to indicate the wind speed in 5
‑
knot increments (about
2.5
‑
meters
‑
per
‑
second increments). For a more detailed explanation of the wind flags, see
the following table.

Wind Flag
Explanation
The wind indicator is shown attached to the sensor site symbol. The direction of the
base indicator shows the wind direction. In this example, the wind comes from the
north.
This flag indicates a wind speed less than 5 knots (about 2.5 meters per second).
This flag indicates a wind speed of 5 knots (about 2.5 meters per second).
This flag indicates a wind speed of 10 knots (about 5 meters per second).
This flag indicates a wind speed of 15 knots (about 8 meters per second).
This flag indicates a wind speed of 40 knots (about 20 meters per second).
