Recovery from Problem Conditions

The Ready indicator is 
blinking green. 

Normally no action is necessary.  The Ready indicator 
blinks green when processing is interrupted while the 
unit awaits a response from the application.  This may 
occur if the application is slow in processing 
information or the network is slow.  It may also occur if 
the Source NDP unit is capturing OCR as well as MICR 
data, which generally results in a brief blink as the 
document stops and quickly restarts in the track loop 
area. 

If the Ready indicator blinks green during processing 
for more than several minutes, the unit may have lost 
connection with the application running on the host PC.  
Do the following: 

1.  Power the unit off and then on again.  (The unit should 

reconnect with the application.) 

2.  If the problem is not resolved, follow the actions for 

“Ready indicator is blinking yellow.“ 

3.  Tell your system administrator about problems that 

persist. 

 

The Ready indicator is

A blinking yellow indicator during power up is normal and 
means that the unit is connecting to the host PC.  No action 
is required unless the condition continues for more than 
one minute.   

During processing, a blinking yellow Ready indicator 
indicates that communications with the host PC have been 
lost.  Normally, the Source NDP unit will automatically 
reconnect to the host PC.  In either case, if several minutes 
expire, do the following: 

1.  Power off the Source NDP unit.  Ensure that the PC 

Card is firmly secured in the card slot at the rear of the 
unit.  It should click into place.  Power the unit back on. 
Resume operation if the problem is resolved.  
Otherwise, continue to Step 2. 

2.  Ensure that adapter cable connecting the PC Card to the 

LAN connection is connected. Resume operation if the 
problem is resolved.  Otherwise, continue to Step 3.
