4. Repeatedly tap the leading edge of documents on a hard, flat surface,

as shown in Figure 3-15. Leading edges must be closely aligned for
satisfactory feeding.

Note: The leading edge is the right-hand edge of a document as viewed
with the front of the document facing you.

Feeding Documents

You may feed documents one at a time or in batches.

It is very important that you properly prepare documents for feeding
and ensure that edges are aligned. Otherwise, documents may be
skewed when feeding. This results in missed MICR code lines, skewed
images, and frequent feed errors.

Note: The failure to align document edges is the most common error
causing documents to stop during processing.

Proceed as follows:

1. Take in hand a single document or as many as 100 documents that you

have prepared for processing.
