General Approach to Problem Recovery
Recovery from many problems you may encounter is straight forward and can
be accomplished by operators. Typically, here is what you should do to
resolve a problem:
1. Follow the steps in “Recovering from Processing Problems,” later in this
section, to recover from processing problems and to clear the track.
2. Refer to the Condition, Cause, and Correction Table in this section to
identify possible problems and attempt to recover.
3. Request assistance from your supervisor or site administrator. Always tell
your supervisor or site administrator about persistent problems.
Problems caused by an application error usually require the attention of your
supervisor or site administrator.
Recovering from Processing Problems
A jam or other processing problem is indicated when the Ready light is solid
yellow. Follow these steps to recover from a processing problem.
1. Notice the position of stopped documents:
•
Documents that are past the image tower and partially or completely in
a pocket may need to be reprocessed. Follow the instructions for the
application. Check with your supervisor if you have questions.
•
Other documents in the track must be reprocessed.
2. Hold down the Start/Stop button until stopped documents reach a
pocket.
Note: Refer to “Clearing the Track,” later in this section, for documents
that do not move.
3. Take documents in hand for reprocessing. Maintain their original order.
4. Repair damaged documents or use a carrier envelope (refer to Figure 3-13)
if required.
5. Tap documents to align edges as described in “Preparing Documents for
Processing” in Section 3.
