h. Actuate the nitrogen cylinders using a manual
actuator (Part No. 423309). The adjacent cylinders
should back pressure actuate and nitrogen will flow
from the atomizers.
Note:
Once nitrogen flow begins, there will be less
than one minute to observe the pressure reading
and make adjustments if necessary.
Note:
The pilot circuit on the regulator is equipped
with a bleed valve between the pilot regulator and
the main regulator to improve the regulator
response. This bleed valve will discharge a small
amount of nitrogen any time that the system is
actuated and will sound like a small leak in the
system. This controlled leak is part of the normal
operation of the system.
i. Check the gauge on the high pressure side of the
regulator. It should read approximately 2900 to 3000
psi (200 to 207 bar) from a new set of cylinders.
j. Check the gauge on the discharge side of the regu-
lator. It should indicate the calculated set pressure
plus or minus 5 psi (0.34 bar).
k. If the pressure is more than 5 psi (0.34 bar) from the
required setting, it will be necessary to adjust the
regulator.
l. If pressure is too low, begin turning pilot regulator
adjustment screw clockwise to increase discharge
pressure to the desired pressure.
m. If pressure is too high, rapidly turn the adjustment
screw counterclockwise until the outlet pressure
drops below the desired set pressure by at least
20 psi (1.4 bar) and then begin increasing pressure
to the desired set pressure.
Note:
Always adjust regulator by increasing
pressure. Never overshoot and decrease pressure to
the desired set pressure. Because the regulator
relieves very slowly, a proper adjustment will not be
achieved. If overshooting occurs, rapidly turn the
adjustment screw counterclockwise until the outlet
pressure drops below the desired set pressure by at
least 20 psi (1.4 bar) and then begin increasing
pressure to the desired set pressure.
n. Allow the cylinders to fully discharge then remove
the manual actuator.
o. Install shipping caps and remove empty cylinders.
p. Install tamper seal onto pilot regulator adjustment
screw.
q. Remove cap from union and reconnect manifold.
r. Install a fully charged set of nitrogen cylinders.
s With all cylinders securely mounted in bracket,
attach female end of flexible discharge bend onto
the valve outlet of all cylinders. Wrench tighten.
t. Reinstall dust caps onto atomizers.
u. Open the ball valve in the nitrogen pressurization
line to the water tank.

22. When maintenance is complete, reset the entire
system. This includes the control panel, all actuators,
detectors, alarms, actuator cartridge, release cartridge,
and pressure switches. After all components have been
reset, install actuators back on to the cylinder valves.
23. Record that the maintenance has been performed as
required by the authority having jurisdiction. Notify all
personnel that the maintenance has been completed
and the system is back to normal.
