TESTING
When installing actuators on the CV-98 valve, different
styles are available depending on the requirements of the
system design.
To test a remote electric pull station, refer to appropriate
AUTOPULSE Control System installation, operation, and
maintenance manual.
Testing Electric Detection/Actuation System –
AUTOPULSE Control System – CV-98 Valve/HF
Actuator/Booster Actuator
In order to properly test the electric detection and actuation
system, attach the booster actuator to the HF actuator and
energize the release circuit.
When HF electric actuator/booster actuator is actuated
correctly, the piston in the bottom of the actuators will be
locked in the down position. Reset the HF actuator and
booster actuator by following the instructions listed in
"Resetting the HF Actuator" and “Resetting the Booster
Actuator” in the Resetting and Recharge section of this
manual.
Testing Electric Detection System – ANSUL AUTOMAN
II-C Release
When utilizing an ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C release for elec-
tric detection or in combination with an AUTOPULSE
Control System, refer to ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C Releasing
Device Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manual,
Part No. 17788, or Part No. 31496 (Explosion Proof version)
for detailed information.
PLACING IN SERVICE
Completing the following steps will prepare the system for
placing into service. Complete each step as appropriate for
the given system configuration.
Step No. 1 – Prepare System Actuation Devices
ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C
Install nitrogen cartridge in ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C release.
1. Remove ring pin from strike button and open ANSUL
AUTOMAN II-C door.
2. Cock actuating mechanism to ARMED position.
3. Position ring pin in puncture pin assembly shaft to
prevent accidental discharge.

4. Remove safety shipping cap from nitrogen cartridge
and weigh.
Note:
For LT-10-R, fill weight must be +/– 1/4 oz (7.1 g)
of weight stamped on the cartridge. For LT-30-R, fill
weight must be +/– 1/2 oz (14.2 g) of weight stamped
on the cartridge.
5. Install cartridge. Hand tighten.
6. Remove ring pin and close ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C
cover.
7. Insert ring pin in strike button and attach visual seal.
Testing and Placing in Service
CAUTION
!
Make certain actuator is reset before installing on cylin-
der valve. Failure to do so will cause system actuation.
CAUTION
!
Electric HF Actuators, Part No. 73327 and Booster
Actuator, Part No. 428949, must not be installed on the
AQUASONIC CV-98 cylinder valve during test. If
installed, testing of the electric detection system will
cause actuation and discharge of the fire suppression
system.
