INSTALLING ACCESORIES (Continued)
Pressure Trip
Pressure trips are used to actuate spring loaded or
weighted mechanisms generally used to close doors or
windows. The pressure trip should be securely mounted in
the appropriate location and piped with 1/4 in. actuation
piping back to the release device.
Pressure trips can be piped off the AQUASONIC system
nitrogen discharge piping – downstream from the nitrogen
discharge regulator – or if the system utilizes an ANSUL
AUTOMAN II-C, the pressure trip can be piped off the actu-
ation line. See Figure 7.
Pressure trips can be piped in series and the last pressure
trip must contain a 1/4 in. plug in the outlet port. See Figure
7. A maximum of two pressure trips may be installed in a
single actuation line. Operating pressure must be a
minimum of 75 psi (5.17 bar) with a maximum load of 70
lbs. (31.8 kg). Refer to Table 1 in this section concerning the
maximum combined length of actuation piping.
Pressure Switch
Pressure switches are used to pneumatically operate elec-
trical circuits which, in turn, will operate alarms, lights, or
turn equipment on or off.
Pressure switches can be piped off the AQUASONIC
system nitrogen discharge piping, downstream from the
nitrogen discharge regulator, or if the system utilizes an
ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C, the pressure switch can be piped
off the actuation line. See Figure 7.
1. Mount pressure switches in desired locations with
appropriate fasteners.
2. Install piping from main actuation line, or from the
AQUASONIC system nitrogen discharge piping, to the
pressure switch fitting. Refer to Table 1 in this section
concerning the maximum combined length of actuation
piping.
Wire each pressure switch to other compatible components
in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. A qualified
electrician should connect all electrical components in
accordance with the authority having jurisdiction.
Ventilation
If necessary, install proper equipment to shut down exhaust
fans and close any openings.
FILL WATER TANKS
1. Close the nitrogen shut-off valve in the water tank pres-
surization piping.
2. Disassemble union at top of tank and fill water tank to
the bottom of the collar. Reconnect union and tighten
securely.
a.
Note:
Fill tank with clean, debris-free, potable water;
demineralized water is recommended.
3. Open the nitrogen shut-off valve.
