DISCHARGE PIPING (AFTER REGULATORS)
System Pipe, Tubing, and Fitting Requirements
1. Water and nitrogen supply lines must meet require-
ments calculated in the design section of this manual.
2. All piping, valves, and fittings from the system to the
atomizer shall have corrosion resistance at least equiv-
alent to the specifications provided in NFPA 750.
Stainless steel piping materials are as described in the
following recommended specifications, or equivalent
national or international standards:
• ASTM A269 – Standard Specification for Seamless
and Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel Tubing for
General Service.
• ASTM A632 – Standard Specification for Seamless
and Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel Tubing (Small-
Diameter) for General Service.
• ASTM A778 – Standard Specification for Welded,
Unannealed Austenitic Stainless Steel Tubular
Products.
• ASTM A789/A789 – M Standard Specification for
Seamless and Welded Ferritic/Austenitic Stainless
Steel Tubing for General Service.
• ASTM A312 – Standard Specification for Seamless
and Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel Pipes.
• MSS SP-114 – Corrosion Resistant Pipe Fittings
Threaded and Socket Welding, Class 150 and 1000.
• BS 3799 – Specification for steel pipe fittings,
screwed and socket-welding for the petroleum
industry
Note:
Verify that the location of the AQUASONIC System
meets the requirements calculated in the design section
(i.e. – pipe lengths, number of elbows, vertical rise, etc.).
Note:
After completion of system installation, system
acceptance may be required by the authority having juris-
diction. If so, follow the appropriate system acceptance
steps stated in NFPA 750 “Water Mist Fire Protection
Systems” Chapter 12 “System Acceptance,” and FM Global
Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet Number 4-0, “Special
Protection Systems.”
