Length:
When calibrating the length of the edge fi nder, it is moved
either manually or by a calibration cycle on a reference sur-
face (for example the machine table). The calibration cycle
saves the length as soon as the edge fi nder has reached it
(switches automatically).
For manual probing, the length must be confi rmed manually
in the software.
Diameter:
The diameter is calibrated in a borehole, mandrel or on a ca-
libration ball. If the edge fi nder is calibrated with the help of
a mandrel or borehole, the exact dimensions must be known,
so in this case, a ring gauge is suitable.
Depending on the calibration cycle used, the edge fi nder is
pre-positioned and the cycle is started. Once this is fi nished,
the edge fi nder is ready for use. All existing deviations were
automatically compensated.
The diameter and the length of the edge fi nder have to be
calibrated.
Please note that the dimensions saved on the machine side are
based on the electronic switching points. Due to the probing
speed and deviations in the positioning accuracy, the deter-
mined diameter / length will deviate from the actual physical
dimensions.
