MAINTENANCE AND CARE
CLEANING AND PROTECTING THE INTERIOR
CAUTION
• Be careful not to splash water or spill liquid on the floor. This may prevent the
side airbags or side airbags and curtain shield airbags from activating correctly,
resulting in death or serious injury.
• Do not get any of the SRS components or wiring in the vehicle interior wet. An
electrical malfunction may cause the airbags to deploy or not function properly,
resulting in death or serious injury.
• Do not wash the vehicle floor with water, or allow water to get onto the floor when
cleaning the vehicle interior or exterior. Water may get into audio components or
other electrical components above or under the floor carpet (or mat) and cause a
malfunction; and it may cause vehicle body corrosion.
• Do not use polish wax or polish cleaner particularly on the instrument panel as it
may reflect on the windscreen, obstructing the driver’s view leading to an accident,
resulting in death or serious injury.
The following procedures will help protect your vehicle’s interior and keep it in top
condition.
If you have any questions about the cleaning of your Toyota, your local Toyota dealer will
be pleased to answer them.
Cleaning the vehicle interior
Remove dirt and dust using a vacuum cleaner. Wipe dirty surfaces with a cloth dampened
with lukewarm water.
NOTICE
Cleaning detergents
Do not use the following types of detergent, as they may discolour the vehicle interior or
cause streaks or damage to painted surfaces.
• Non-seat portions: Organic substances such as benzene or petrol, alkaline or acidic
solutions, dye and bleach.
• Seats: Alkaline or acidic solutions, such as thinner, benzene, and alcohol.
Do not use polish wax or polish cleaner. The instrument panel or other interior part’s
painted surface may be damaged.
Cleaning the leather areas
• Remove dirt and dust using a vacuum cleaner.
• Wipe off any excess dirt and dust with a soft cloth dampened with diluted detergent.
Use a diluted water solution of approximately 5% neutral wool detergent.
• Wring out any excess water from the cloth and thoroughly wipe off all remaining
traces of detergent.
• Wipe the surface with a dry, soft cloth to remove any remaining moisture. Allow the
leather to dry in a shaded and ventilated area.
