Certain USB devices, such as optical disc drives and hard disk
drives, have high power requirements. Due to the power output
limitations of the USB ports, you may not be able to operate
more than one such device at a time.
❖
If your USB device came with an AC adaptor, be sure to connect
the device to a power outlet with the AC adaptor, in addition to
connecting the device to the port replicator with a USB cable.
❖
Booting from a USB 3.0 port is only available if your computer
supports it.
❖
The speed of the USB 3.0 port on the port replicator is
dependent on your computer’s specifications.
Special features
The port replicator supports the following power-saving features, if
they are available on your computer. Refer to your computer
documentation for details.
DC-IN (19V)
Socket for AC adaptor.
Security lock slot
Attachment point for an optional security cable
(not included) used to deter theft.
Computer lock switch
In the locked position, helps prevent disconnection of the
computer from the port replicator.
Note: When the Computer lock switch is in the locked
position, the Eject lever cannot be operated.
Feature
Purpose
Wake On LAN
When a computer in sleep or hibernation mode is connected to
the port replicator, this feature turns on the computer when a
wake-up signal is received from a connected LAN cable.
Wake Up (USB)
When a computer in sleep or hibernation mode is connected to
the port replicator, this feature turns on the computer when a
wake-up signal is received from a device connected to a USB
port.
Note: When the Wake Up (USB) feature is enabled and the
docked computer is in sleep or hibernation mode, the
computer’s AC power light may be ON or OFF, depending on the
computer model. In either case, the computer will turn on when
a wake-up signal is received from a USB device.
