Tips and hints for locating non-metallic objects
In this detection mode, the device detects objects in plaster drywall, plywood,
solid wood and coated wood walls. Objects in concrete, mortar, brick walls, under
carpets, foils, metal surfaces, tiles, glass or other materials with an uneven density
cannot be detected.
The detection depth and accuracy may vary due to moisture content, material
content, wall structure and paint coating.
In non-metal detection mode, the device detects non-metallic objects, primarily
wood. It can also detect metals and other dense materials. To determine metal
objects more accurately, use the metal detection mode.

Locating non-metallic objects
The detection depth setting will be shown on the LCD display (10). It is adjustable
from 20 to 38 mm. In non-metal detection mode, the maximum detection depth is
as follows:
- Non-metallic objects (mostly wooden strips)
20mm or 38 mm
• Press and hold the wood detection button (1) for a few seconds to switch
between precise mode (up to 20 mm) and deep detection mode. The detection
depth setting will appear on the LCD display.
To locate non-metallic objects such as wooden strips, proceed as follows:
• Press the wood detection button (1) to switch to non-metal detection mode. If
voice prompts are enabled, the current detection mode will be indicated by a
voice prompt.
• The calibration process will start automatically. Do not move the device for
approx. 1-3 seconds and wait until the calibration process has been completed.
Refer to “Calibrating in non-metal detection mode” for details.
• When detecting non-metallic objects, the device must be placed vertically on
the wall. Place the bottom of the device on the surface you wish to inspect.
• Move the device slowly in one direction (to the left or right) without placing your
fingers on the surface you are inspecting. Do not press hard on the surface or
lift the device from the surface. If an object comes within the detection range,
the corresponding symbols will appear on the LCD display. Refer to “Meaning
of detection symbols” for information on the symbols. A voice prompt will also
be played to confirm the detection of the corresponding material type (unless
voice prompts are switched off). The signal strength of the detected object is
indicated on the LCD display by means of bars (see fig. 7 in “Calibrating in
non-metal detection mode” ).
