The GPS Receiver Module contains the GPS receiver itself, the SD memory card,
Front Panel User Interface, external serial port, USB port and power port. Most of
the functionality of the GPS Receiver Module is located on the front and the rear
panel.
The GPS Receiver Module is capable of functioning in a number of different ways
including; static data recorder, kinematic data recorder, RTK base or RTK rover.
The Front Panel User Interface provides an easy way to control receiver functions
and also supports the ability to perform most post-process survey tasks without a
handheld computer.
GPS Antenna Module
In order for the GPS Receiver Module to receive satellite signals, it must utilize an
antenna. The GPS antenna is the actual collection point of the satellite signals. It is
also the point from which the position of the system is computed. To determine the
precise location of a point on the ground, the GPS receiver antenna must be precisely
centered over the point. The height of the GPS antenna above the point must also be
measured. The vertical position of the point is determined by subtracting the
