Periodic maintenance -
yearly
Check the fan wheels and inspect the drain pan for
sludge and foreign materials. Clean if required.
Observe the operation of all dampers and make
any necessary adjustments in linkage and blade
orientation for proper operation.
Entire unit inspection
In addition to the checks listed in this section, the
overall unit should be periodically inspected to
ensure proper equipment operation. Items such as
loose hardware, component operation, refrigerant
leaks, and unusual noises should be investigated
and corrected immediately.
Condensate float switch
Prior to annually preparing the unit for cooling,
check the condensate float switch for proper
operation.
The condensate float switch should be lifted to
ensure the cooling operation of the unit stops and
that an alarm generates on the display of the unit
controller. To do this, tape the condensate float
switch in the up position and then start the unit with
a cooling demand.
After correct functionality is confirmed, restore the
condensate float switch to its normal operation.
Visually inspect the float on the switch to ensure it is
free of any debris or scale accumulation.

Ultraviolet lights
The unit controller issues a warning to replace the
UV lights after 9,000 hours of unit runtime, which is
equal to approximately 1 year.
CAUTION
Take care when handling the UV lights. Oil from skin
can cause premature failure of the UV light. When
replacing the UV lights, wear clean cotton or latex
gloves or thoroughly wipe the UV tube lights clean
after replacement.
Internal lights
To replace any internal lights, use a 3/32 size Allen
wrench to remove the single lock nut on the light
fixture.
Replace internal lights using A19, 120 V, 60 W
equivalent bulbs.
Figure 65: Sheave alignment
Sheave alignment
To check sheave alignment, use a straight edge or a
piece of string. If the sheaves are properly aligned,
the string or straight edge touch at all points,
as indicated in Figure 65. Rotating the sheaves
determines if the sheave is wobbly or the drive shaft
is bent. An alignment error must be corrected to
avoid bearing and belt failure.
