Premier Units Application Guide (5553808-TAD)
.
The rooftop units are designed for outdoor
installation only. When selecting a site for
installation, please use the following guidelines:
•
Unit must be installed on a level surface.
•
Unit must have an unlimited supply of
outdoor air for the proper operation of the
condenser coil, and for combustion air used
on unit with gas heat.
•
Avoid locations beneath windows, or between
structures.
•
The unit should be installed on a roof that
is structurally strong enough to the support
the weight of the unit with a minimum of
deflection.
•
It is recommended the unit(s) be installed not
more than 15 ft from a main support beam.
This will help minimize the transmission of
sound and vibration.
•
Ideally, the center of gravity should be located
over a structural support.
•
Unit should not be installed near other
flue stacks or exhaust fan outlets from the
building, to prevent possible reintroduction
of contaminated air through the outside air
intakes.
Proper service clearances must be maintained
around the perimeter of the unit. This will allow for
proper servicing of the unit as well as adequate air
flow for condenser coils and combustion air for gas
fired furnaces.
Note:
The clearances shown are to provide
adequate condenser airflow and service access
to inside the unit. Additional clearance should
be considered for component replacement
such as compressors, evaporator coils, and
supply or exhaust fans.
While it is a common practice to operate the
fan as soon as possible (air movement during
construction) on the job site, the incomplete
ductwork and missing diffuser grilles will greatly
reduce air resistance and allow the fan to operate
beyond design parameters. This practice may result
in water carryover and flooding of the unit. Also,
the supply fan motor may over-amp and become
damaged. The factory does not recommend running
units while the building is under construction.
