Enabling the Network Address Translator (NAT)
The IPSec NAT Traverse feature supports IPSec VPN passing through NAT.
NOTE
Users with NAT-T (UDP tunnel for VPN traffic) should
not
enable this feature. This
option is disabled by default.
The objective of the Network Address Translator, NAT, is to provide functionality as if the private
network had globally unique addresses and the NAT device was not present. Basic NAT allows a
one-to-one mapping between one private address and one public address. In its simplest
