9.3.2 Air filter maintenance
A clogged air filter will reduce air flow
to the engine. To prevent engine malfunction,
check the air filter regularly. If the engine is
used in a heavily dusty environment, we sug-
gest checking the air filter daily.
Never operate the generator without an air fil-
ter since the engine would be damaged very
quickly.
Never use Diesel oil or solvents with a
low evaporation point to clean the air filter
cartridge.
The filter cartridge is enclosed in the filter plastic
housing (fig.38 ref. 2). To remove the filter car-
tridge open the housing lid by unscrewing the
special handle (fig.38 ref. 3).
After removing the lid, screw out the filter knob
(fig. 39 ref. 2) and take out the air filter (fig. 39
ref. 1).
Lightly tap the cartridge on a hard surface to re-
move any excess dust or blow the filter clean in-
side out with compressed air (fig. 41). Never
brush the filter cartridge, as this would push dust
in between the fibres. If excessively dirty, replace
the filter cartridge.
9.3.3 Diesel fuel filters replacement
The external (Fig. 14 ref. 3) and internal (Fig. 38
ref. 1) diesel oil filters should be replaced when
impurities are visible within them even if they
have not reached the number of working hours
specified in the maintenance schedule provided
in another part of this chapter. Generally the ex-
ternal filter retains all the impurities, thus prolong-
ing the life of the internal filter.
The external filter is replaced by removing it from
the fuel inlet pipes.
