Insert at the other end of the flexible pipe the
clamp D.32-35 (Fig.13 ref. 5), insert the silencer
in the pipe (fig.13 ref. 4), and tighten the clamp.
Fix the silencer to the vehicle underside with the
spacer grommets (fig.13 Ref. 6) and secure the
flexible pipe, taking care that it does not prevent
the generator from sliding out for routine mainte-
nance purposes.
4.4 Connecting the fuel pipes
On the left side of the generator are two protrud-
ing 2 carbopress rubber hoses. The larger di-
ameter one (fig.14 ref. 1) is the fuel inlet tube
while the smaller diameter one (fig.14 ref. 2) is
the excess fuel return to tank tube. On the inlet
tube the diesel fuel filter (fig.14 ref. 3) supplied
with the generator must be positioned.
To connect the generating set to the tank, use
carbopress rubber hoses specific for diesel fuel,
with an inside diameter of 7 mm for the diesel
fuel inlet hose to the generator and an inside di-
ameter of 5 mm for the back to the tank delivery
hose.
The routing of the two inlet and outlet fuel hoses
must be such as to minimise the pipe length.
Hose crushing or too sharp bending should be
avoided.
It is advisable to install the fuel tank at the same
height as the generator; in any case, the height
gap should never exceed 50 cm.
The fuel tank should be installed at a location
protected from external water infiltrations and
away from sources of heat.
In case of connection to the vehicle
tank, ensure direct fuel inlet and outlet from
and to the tank, and NOT through bypass
hoses supplying fuel to the vehicle engine or
other utilities.
To facilitate the first generator start-
up, it is advisable to prime the outer filter and
the fuel inlet pipe by filling them with diesel
fuel.
If diesel fuel delivery to the generator is insuffi-
cient due to a very long inlet tube route or a con-
siderable height gap, an additional fuel pump
(code 00507) can be connected, using the spe-
cially provided lead clamp in the service terminal
strip.
If the tank has a fuel reserve indicator, on the
service terminal strip there will be a suitable wire
connector to connect the electrical wire coming
from the fuel reserve sensor switch.
5 ELECTRIC WIRING CONNECTIONS
5.1 Access to internal electrical connections
To carry out electrical connections to the genera-
tor, it is necessary to open, or better still, remove
the front door.
To carry out this operation, unlock the key lock,
lift the door (fig.15 ref. 1), then pull toward the
centre of the door the two latches of the hinges
(fig.15 ref. 2). Release the door and store it to a
safe location to be then replaced at the end of
generator connection operations.
