Monitor Two DS1 Signals at a DSX Panel
The YBT100 let you monitor two DS1 signals at the same time. You
can use this capability to monitor the same DS1 signal in an attempt to
isolate the direction of a fault, or monitor two different DS1 signals. The
following example shows how to monitor the DS1 signal on both sides
of a CSU device, to verify that the CSU device is working correctly.
1.
On the YBT100 application, click the
DS1-A
button.
2.
Click the
Con
fi
guration
tab, and set or con
fi
rm the following
parameters:
Mode =
Monitor
Circuit Timing =
Network
Click
Auto-Detect
to detect and set the signal framing and
zero coding types, and to detect any BERT patterns being
transmitted.
3.
Click the
DS1-B
button and repeat step 2 to set or con
fi
rm the
Con
fi
guration tab settings.
4.
Connect the YBT100 DS1 A and DS1 B RCV jacks to the DSX
panel
Mon
jacks. Making these connections should not cause any
alarms.
Which monitor jacks you use depends on the signals that you want
to monitor. The illustration shows DS1-A monitoring the BTS to
CSU signal, and DS1-B monitoring the CSU to NIU signal. This
lets you verify the operation of the CSU.
