Cable losses for frequencies of 10 G H z and higher
become significant and must be added for correct
sensitivity measurements. Add 3 dB at 1 0 G H z in
creasing to 5 dS a t 12 .4 G H z fo r a 6 fo ot, RG-
9 3 /U cable betw een the signal source and the RF
INPUT.
' 5. Check Presence of Spurious Signals
a.
Requirement—
Spurious signals from internal source

2 X the noise level. Resolution > 1 0 0 kHz.
b.
Connect
a 50 Q termination to the RF INPUT connec
tor.
Performance Check— Type 1L30
c. Set the DISPERSION RANGE to kH z/C M , the DISPER
SION to 500 kHz/cm and the RESOLUTION control fully
clockwise (100 kHz).
d. Adjust the G A IN control .for an average noise ampli
tude of 0.5 cm, then tune the RF CENTER FREQ control over
the band; checking that there are no spurious signals that
exceed 1 cm in amplitude. (2 X average noise level.)
NOTE
If excessive spurious signals are present, refer to
the Calibration procedure.
This concludes the performance check for the Type 1130.
If the instrument has met all checks, it is ready to operate
and will perform to specifications listed in Section 1.
