Hitching the cardan shaft to the PTO

First of all, check the cardan shaft length as follows:
• Separate the cardan shaft and couple the female part to the PTO.
• Position the tractor in a way that the tires touch the equipment drawbar.
• Couple the male part to the rotary cutter. Being the bars placed side by side, check
if there is a minimum clearance of
05 centimeters
between the male and female part on
each end.
At this moment, it is possible to use the adjustment resources on the tractor
drawbar to lenghten or to shorten it.
NOTE
Reducing the cardan shaft length
• First of all, disassemble the protecting covers.
• Cut the hub and the solid bar (male and female) in the
desired measures. In order to do so, couple half of the cardan in
the tractor and half in the equipment, placing the semi-cardans
in parallel and in several operating positions. Then, determine
the correct length and mark the cutting area.
• It is important to give finish working in the cut parts.
For this purpose, use a filer. Soon after, remove the filing and
lubricate the 'male' with a fine layer of grease.
If it is necessary, cut similar parts of the male and female drive shaft as well as the
protecting covers. But before cutting the shaft, verify all possibilities of usage without
reducing its length.
The length adjustment will be done when the distance between the equipment and the
tractor do not allow coupling. Proceed as follows:
