To remove the SD card, turn the TX1 power off, then firmly push the SD card inward and
release. The SD card will pop out. Gently remove the card and store it safely until it can be
updated and returned to the unit. When re-inserting the SD card, be sure to gently push it in
(label side up with angled edge toward the unit) until it clicks, then release. The SD card will lock
in position when it is properly inserted.
Connecting Drives
The following procedure provides the necessary steps for safely connecting drives to the TX1.
The TX1 operates as a standalone device or with the TX1-S1 drive bay. To connect the drive
bay, ensure the TX1 is powered off, align the TX1 into place on top of the drive bay, and slide
the TX1 back to lock it into place.
Source Drives
Connect one or more drives to the TX1 source (left) side interfaces: SATA/SAS (x2), USB 3.0,
PCIe, or FireWire.
The TX1 must be off to connect a PCIe drive. A Tableau PCIe adapter (sold separately) is
required to image PCIe drives. The Tableau IDE-PCIe adapter (TDA7-5, sold separately) is
required to image IDE drives. For detailed information on all the available PCIe based adapters
for TX1, see the Adapters section of the Tableau products page on the Guidance Software
website.
The TX1 can acquire any Apple computer that supports Target Disk Mode via the USB 3.0
source side connection. This can be done via three different types of Apple computer
interfaces: USB-C, FireWire, and Thunderbolt 2. Commercially available adapters are required
to convert these interfaces to USB 3.0 (for USB-C devices) or FireWire (for Thunderbolt 2
devices) for connecting to the TX1. See Adapters on page 111 or contact Tech Support for
more details on the required adapters.
The TX1 provides an Ethernet connection, which enables network-based acquisition of iSCSI
physical media and file-based logical imaging from mounted CIFS shares. See Duplication Over
a Network on page 45 for more information.
