The Diagnostics Demo
The Diagnostics Demo is a set of tools for checking the performance of individual
components on the PDT 3400. To initiate the demo:
1. Select The Diagnostic Demo and press < Enter >. The demo displays nine sub-menus
which address all the tests necessary to monitor the PDT 3400’s performance.
2. Use the Arrow Keys to scroll through the operating features. Highlight the feature
you want to test and press < Enter >.
3. Use the instructions provided in Table C-1, to operate each of the programs.

Program Operating the Feature To Exit
Key Pad Test Press each key on key pad to verify each is
displayed on screen. Do NOT press
PWR or
ESC .

Press FUNC then W to turn the backlight
on.
✓
Press FUNC then W to turn the backlight
off.
✓
Press FUNC then Y to decrease the contrast;
the display should get lighter each time this
combination is pressed.
✓
Press FUNC then X to increase the contrast;
the display should get darker each time this
combination is pressed.
Press < Clear >
8-Level Contrast Verify all 8 levels of contrast.
Scroll using

to select the test.
✓
Press ENTER 8 times. With each press, the
screen should go from very light to
extremely dark.
Automatic exit
at end of demo
