Maintenance
Cleaning the Terminal
The PDT 3400 requires a minimal amount of maintenance. To prolong its life and avoid
problems, keep the terminal clean. Use a clean, soft cloth dampened with a mild cleanser such
as soap and water to clean the terminal. Do NOT use abrasive paper/cloth or abrasive/
corrosive cleaners.
Wipe the entire terminal, except for the scanner window. Wipe the scanner window
periodically with a lens tissue or other material suitable for cleaning optical material such as
eyeglasses. Do not use tissues that contain a lotion.
Storage
If the PDT 3400 is not used for more than a week, store it in a cool, dry place, away from
dust. Remove the battery pack and repack the terminal in its original shipping container.
For a storage period of a few days, the battery pack can stay in the terminal. If the battery
pack is left in the PDT 3400 for an extended period of time, data stored in the terminal may
be lost. To avoid data loss, keep the NiMH battery pack charged.
Note:
If you leave the terminal without a main battery for longer than 15
minutes, reboot the terminal and run the Setup Utility (refer to
Chapter 8) if required.
