AIR CLEANER
The air cleaner element must be kept
clean to provide good engine power
and gas mileage. If you use your vehi-
cle under normal, low-stress condi-
tions, you should service the air
cleaner at the intervals specified. If
you ride in dusty, wet, or muddy con-
ditions, you will need to inspect the air
cleaner element much more fre-
quently. Use the following procedure
to remove the element and inspect it.
WARNING
Operating the engine without the
air cleaner element in place can be
hazardous.
A flame can spit back from the
carburetor to the air intake box
without the air cleaner element to
stop it. Severe engine damage can
also occur if dirt enters the engine
due to running the engine without
the air cleaner element.
Never run the engine without the
air cleaner element in place.
CAUTION
Failure to inspect the air cleaner
element frequently if the vehicle is
used in dusty, wet, or muddy con-
ditions can damage your ATV.
The air cleaner element can
become clogged under these con-
ditions, and engine damage may
result.
Always check the air cleaner ele-
ment after riding in severe condi-
tions. Clean or replace the
element as necessary. If water
gets in the air cleaner case, imme-
diately clean the element and the
inside of the case.
