Programme information in your screen
Once you start up your receiver, or once you change channel, you will see at the lower part of the
screen for a number of seconds a information box. It contains information about for the actual
programme. You can recall this information at any time by pressing the INFO button on your Remote
Control Unit. If you press the
INFO
button twice you will see additional information related to the
actual received satellite -transponder, Programme Identification (PID), signal level and signal quality.
5.1.6 Recorder
General information about Hard Disk recording.
This Digital Satellite receiver has a build-in Hard Disk (HDD). This Hard Disk is used to record and
store the digital information from Digital TV-and Radio programmes. It is similar to the HDD that is
used in your PC, however the data storage is different.
In order to get the maximum performance for recording we have summarized general information below:
It is recommended to spend some time to get familiar with the most important functions
and the techniques related to HDD recording of TV and Radio programmes.
The storage capacity is quite large, however not unlimited. Standard the capacity is 80 GB,
normally that is sufficient for about 60 hours of TV recording.
The real duration of recording can differ, it depends namely on the type and the data rate of
the recorded programme. Radio channel recording normally allows a longer duration than
TV channel recording.
Note that deleting the not needed files assures you the maximum storage capacity at all
times.
A part of the HDD capacity should remain available at all times to ensure that the Time Shift
function remains available for you at all times.
HDD recordings can not be copied or transferred to other digital recording sources.
Recordings that you want to archive can be transferred and recorded on your VCR.
This receiver can also be used to record programmes on your VCR directly.
Recording is not limited to the channel that you are currently watching, it is for example
possible to watch channel number 1 and record channel number 2 at the same time.
Condition however is that the programmes belong to the same “
programme bouquet
”,
meaning they are transmitted via the same satellite transponder.
Timer recording sessions can be easily started via the Electronic Programme Guide.
One of the big advantages of a receiver with build in HDD is the “
time shift
” function; you
can start watching a programme while that same programme is still being recorded. Or you
can pause a live programme that you are watching, and proceed watching it at any later
moment. The HDD has recorded the information that you missed so you won't miss any
part of the programme you have been watching.
