Post Installation Magnetic Survey
This procedure confirms that the 5 gauss field is contained within the controlled area for Tilted
condition ONLY.
Equipment Required
THM-7025 Magnetometer
2 copies of the plan view drawings of the site
Tape measure
Ruler
Procedure
1.
Obtain four copies of the plan-view of the site and identify the non-controlled and
controlled areas.
For the floor above and below, if applicable, locate on the same plan view drawing the
isocenter of the Niobe
®
system and centers of the magnet pods in the stowed position.
2
.
Turn on the magnetometer, zero in a degauss chamber, and place it in three-axis mode.
Record the following:
Magnetometer Model: ________________________
Serial #: _______________
Calibration Date: _____________________
3.
Place the Niobe
®
system into the Navigate RAO position.
4.
For identified spaces on the floor above: measure at a height of approximately 25mm
from the floor the magnetic field strength at the isocenter and stowed pod center
locations and record on the site’s elevation view drawing. Label these reading with an ‘a’
for above.
For identified spaces on the floor below: measure at a height of approximately 2 meters
from the floor the magnetic field strength at the isocenter and stowed pod center
locations and record on the site’s elevation view drawing. Label these reading with a ‘b’
for below.
Initial and date the drawing/data and record on the drawing/data that the set is for stowed
position. Record on the drawing what units are used (milliTesla or Gauss).
5.
Place the Niobe
®
system into the Navigate position and apply a (1,0,0) vector at the
isocenter (0,0,0).
6.
Repeat step #4 on a fresh copy of the site plan drawings. Note on the drawing/data that
data is for navigate position, applied vector (1,0,0).
7.
Repeat steps #5 and #6 for applied vectors (0,1,0) and (0,0,1). Note on the
drawings/data the appropriate applied vector.
8.
Verify that none of the measured magnetic field strengths exceeded 0.5 milliTesla* (5.0
Gauss).
Record the final result below:
