Introduction to the system
Feed/boost pumps
The two
Boost pumps
pressurize water from
the feed tank connected to the container.
There is a basket strainer on each pump that
can be checked through the clear window on
the top of the unit.
Note that these pumps must be full of water
before starting. Running these pumps dry will
damage the unit very quickly. The pump
speed is controlled by the small control box
below the main control.
See the boost pump manufacturers manual in
the binder for more detail.
Chlorine Injection
There are two Chlorine Injectors (one for each
system) that add chlorine when the unit is mak-
ing product water (the injection pump is powered
when the diversion valve is open. The manufac-
turers operation manual is in the binder.
Media filters
Each system has two media filters connected
in parallel. Pressurized water from the Boost
Pump is pushed into the media filters and
then on to the cartridge filters.
The pressure gauges on the end of the mani-
folds show the pressure in and out of each
media filter pair. Note what the normal pres-
sure drop is after the filters are back-flushed
and monitor the pressure difference (pressure
drop) across the filters. Back flush the filters
when the pressure drop is 3-5psi.
See the media filter manufacturers manual in the binder for more detailed instructions.
