Iso late power sup plies as fol lows:
(1) Ensure that the associated display is turned off.
(2) Remove fuses from mains isolators.
(3) On the Turning Mechanism, set the ON/OFF
switch to OFF.
46 The cas ing of the upmast turn ing mech a nism must be
se curely earthed to the plat form with braided cop per
wire.
47 The cas ing of the downmast trans ceiver must be
se curely earthed to the deck or bulk head with braided
cop per wire.
48 Al low suf fi cient length on all ca bles to al low for rout ing
through the trans
ceiver. Make sure that there is
suf fi cient slack to al low for ex treme move ments dur ing
sud den shock to the ves sel.

En sure that all ca bles are se cured to their as so ci ated
en try point and that screened ca bles are earthed to
their re spected units.

Fit cable through gland in ac cor dance with the di a gram
shown on Fig ure 7f.
COVER RE MOVAL

Be fore any elec tri cal con nec tions can be made, cov ers
have to be re moved from the fol low ing equip ment:
(1) Downmast Transceiver and Turning Mechanism.
(2) Optional Mains Isolator.
Turn ing Mech a nism

Remove the four captive screws se cur ing the rear
cover to the Upmast Trans ceiver and re move the
cover.
Downmast Trans ceiver

Re lease the six cap tive screws se cur ing the cover to
the Downmast Trans ceiver and re move the cover.
Op tional Mains Iso la tor

Open the mains iso la tor cover by re leas ing the cap tive
screw.
PCB LO CA TIONS AND CABLEFORM
ROUTING
55 Lo ca tion of PCBs and cableform rout ing in the turn ing
mech a nism are shown on Fig ure 7f. To fit the cable
proceed as follows:
(1) Remove gland nut, plastic washer and seal and
discard washer.
(2) Thread cable through back of gland housing for
approx. 300 mm.
(3) Remove cable outer covering (exposing braid)
back as far as 15 mm from the gland housing.
(4) Fold braid double to 80mm from gland housing
(remove excess).
(5) Place seal over cable and onto outer covering at
the gland housing.
(6) Insert the two screening ferrules between seal and
screen at gland as shown.
(7) Place plastic washer and gland nut over cable and
screw assembly into gland housing and secure
screening and cable with ‘P’ clip, unwrap paper
insulation back to screening and discard.
(8) Route cable strands to TB1, TB2 (CAE-A30-5
only) and SKA. Note that the Tx Monitor Arm cable
is also connected to SKA. Refer to Figures 12f
and 13f for wiring details.
