General rules
a
WARNING
– The installation must conform to the local regula-
tions in force for hydraulic and electrical systems.
– The packaging of the solar water heater must be
removed at the site of installation to protect the ap-
pliance against impacts during transport. Moreo-
ver, due to their weight, the collectors must not rest
on top of the pipe connection couplings.
– The collector’s crystals must remain covered until
the installation has been completed and the cal-
orifier has been filled with domestic hot water, in
order to prevent the filling liquid from boiling or the
crystals from breaking.
– Moreover, the plastic protective plugs must be re-
moved from the calorifier and collector couplings.
2.1.1
Installation point
Before proceeding with the installation, it is necessary to
choose where to install the product very carefully (together
with the customer).
Before installing the solar system, it is necessary to choose the
point very carefully and check whether the surface where the
appliance will be positioned can withstand the product’s weight.
2.1.2
General instructions on positioning
Correctly choosing the inclination and direction in relation to
the place of installation and the period of maximum requested
production is a crucial factor for obtaining maximum perfor-
mance from the solar system.
Solar panels must be directed so that their surface faces the
Geographic South Pole in the northern hemisphere (Geograph-
ic North Pole in the southern hemisphere), that is, they must
always point towards the equator.
Deviations in their direction will reduce the system’s performance
.
If the deviation from the correct direction is inevitable, the sys-
tem’s performance must be corrected by increasing the surface
of the collectors on the basis of an assessment of the specific
conditions.
Given that the angle of impact of the sun’s rays varies with the
seasons and the place where the system is installed, the incli-
nation of the collectors must almost be equal to the latitude of
the place of installation. This inclination will ensure maximum
energy production on an annual basis.
a
WARNING
It is necessary to prevent the system from being un-
der the shade of trees, buildings or other obstacles
so that the surface of the collectors is fully exposed
to sunlight for at least 4 hours in the central hours
of the day.
2.1.3
Special installation solutions
If the installation surface is not compatible with the standard
equipment supplied, a different type of equipment must be
used.
a
WARNING
– The responsibility for the equipment bears on the
installer. The company declines all responsibility in
this case.
– The installer is called upon to propose and install,
after agreeing with the customer, a different type of
equipment.
2.1.4
Special weather conditions
In regions subject to high snowfall it is important to ensure
that the snow is promptly removed. In this case and in regions
subject to storms, strong winds, downpours, cyclones and tor-
nadoes, the system must be positioned on the roof in the most
stable way possible and fastened with additional metal bands.
a
WARNING
In areas subject to these conditions and where hail-
stones have a diameter greater than 20 mm, we sug-
gest stipulating an insurance policy for the solar wa-
ter heater.
2.1.5
Piping
The path of piping and cables must be agreed between the in-
staller and the customer, so as to guarantee adequate installa-
tion of the solar system in conformity to the local regulations
governing water and electrical systems.
