Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all
its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If
any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this tool
Fitting an Accessory
1. Use the hex key supplied to loosen and remove the Accessory Clamp
Bolt (1)
2. Position the accessory onto the Drive Plate (2) so that the mounting
holes in the accessory engage with the cams on the drive plate
3. The accessory can be positioned at an angle, so long as it is engaged
with the cams on the drive plate
4. Insert the Accessory Clamp Bolt (1) and tighten with the hex key so
that the accessory is secured in position
5. Before using the tool, check that the accessory is fully engaged with
the cams on the drive plate and the clamp bolt is securely tightened
IMPORTANT:
Accessories with a swan neck must be mounted on the tool
so that the neck plunges AWAY from the tool
Operating Instructions
1. Hold the tool firmly in the hand using the contoured grip
2. Press the On/Off Button (6). The Guide Light (3) will illuminate
3. To activate the motor, press the ‘+’ Button (7) and release. Each time
the ‘+’ Button is released and pressed again, the motor speed will
increase in increments
4. To reduce speed, press and release the ‘–’ Button (8). Each time you
press and release the ‘-’ Button, the motor speed will decrease in
increments
5. The relative level of motor speed is displayed on the LED Screen (5) –
green, amber and red (maximum)
6. Do not operate the tool at maximum speed for extended periods
7. Press the On/Off Button (6) to switch off the tool. The tool can be
switched off at any speed
NOTE
• Allow the tool to reach the required speed before making contact with
the workpiece
• Always remove the tool from the workpiece when changing speed
Sawing
• Ensure the saw blade is sharp and in good condition
• Do not use saw blades that are damaged or deformed in any way
• When sawing light building materials, follow the recommendations of the
material suppliers
• Apply plunge cuts to soft materials ONLY, for example wood, gypsum
plasterboard etc
• If using HCS saw blades, ensure there are no nails or screws embedded
in the workpiece. If necessary, remove embedded objects or use BIM
saw blades instead
Sanding
• The removal rate and the sanding pattern are primarily determined by
the choice of sanding sheet, the preset oscillation rate and the applied
pressure
• Only flawless sanding sheets achieve good sanding capacity and extend
the service life of the machine
• Pay particular attention to applying uniform sanding pressure; this
increases the working life of the sanding sheets
• Intensifying the sanding pressure will not lead to an increase of the
sanding capacity, but to increased wear of the machine and the sanding
sheet
• For precise on-the-spot sanding of edges, corners and hard to reach
areas, it is also possible to work only with the tip or an edge of the
sanding plate
• A sanding sheet that has been used for sanding metal should not be used
for sanding other materials
• Always connect dust extraction when sanding
Scraping
• For scraping, select a high oscillation rate
• On soft surfaces (e.g. wood), work at a flat angle and apply only light
pressure so that the scraper does not cut into the surface
Checking the battery level
• To check the level of charge in the battery, press the Battery Charge
Level Indicator Button (10) in the base of the Battery Pack (9)
• There are three indicator lights: red, amber and green
• When all lights are illuminated, the battery is fully charged. When only the
red light is illuminated, the battery charge level is low
• The battery can be placed on charge at any time as the intelligent
charger will charge from any level of existing charge in the battery
Charging the battery
Note:
Before charging check the contacts of the battery and charger battery
socket are clean and in good condition
1. Depress the clip at the back of the Battery Pack (9) to remove the
battery from the tool
2. Connect the Charger (11) to the mains power. The green light on the
charger will illuminate
3. Insert the battery into charger so it is fully recessed into the charger
battery socket . This ensures the battery and charger contacts are
connected correctly. The red light will flash evenly, indicating the
battery is receiving charge
4. If both the red and green lights illuminate, the battery is not fully
inserted in the charger. Adjust position of battery until it is fully inserted
and red light begins to flash evenly
5. When the battery has reached 90% charge, the green LED will flash. At
100% charge the green LED will display solid green
6. After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use
7. Disconnect the charger from the power supply and store in a clean,
dry environment out of the reach of children
8. Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and do not store
batteries on charge
WARNING
• Do not store battery pack for long periods discharged. Always fully
charge the battery pack before long term storage
• There are 3 battery cell protection features built into this product that
protect the battery from being fully discharged, over-charged and from
excessive current demands from the tool
IMPORTANT:
Failure to follow the correct charging procedure may result in
permanent damage to the batteries
Maintenance
Cleaning
• Keep your machine clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal
parts to wear quickly, shortening the machine’s service life. Clean the
body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use
clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes
Storage
• Store this tool and accessories in a dry, secure place, out of the reach
of children
Disposal
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment, with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct
way to dispose of tools
