TM
- The only thing you have to learn to get started!
If your main concern is to easily find your way back to your starting position (called ”**HOME**”), this short
chapter will give you the necessary information and you will be navigating in only a few minutes!
2.1 Battery installation
Unscrew the lid over the battery compartment at the bottom of the Multi-Navigator
TM
and insert two AA batteries.
(FIG.001) Be careful to insert them with the correct polarity.
Note!
Since the Multi-Navigator
TM
reads the barometric pressure even when shut off, it always consumes some
power. When you are not going to use your Multi-Navigator
TM
for some time we recommend you remove the
batteries.
2.2 How to store your ”HOME” position
Note!
In order to get accurate compass directions we recommend you to deviate the built-in electronic compass before
using the compass function. See chapter 4.5.7.3
1.
Go outside on a fairly open spot (without tree cover etc)
2. Start the Multi-Navigator
TM
by a pressing the ON-button. (FIG. 002)
3. After a short while, (this can take a few minutes, if the Multi-Navigator
TM
has to determine your position
somewhere in the whole world) the screen will show your position. Before proceeding to the next
point we recommend you wait until the 3D symbol in the bottom of the LCD has stopped flashing. This is a sign
of a stable GPS position. (FIG. 003)
4. Press and hold the WPT-button (FIG. 004) until the new ”NEW HOME STORED” is shown (FIG. 006). The LCD
shows the countdown ”STORING NEW HOME in 5...4...3...2...1”. (FIG. 005)
5. Your position is now stored! Switch off the Multi-NavigatorTM by pressing and holding the ON-button
(FIG. 002) and start your trip.
2.3 Finding your way back is easy
1.
Start the Multi-Navigator
TM
with a long press on the ON-button. (FIG. 002)
2. After a few moments the screen will show your current position with a sign that the GPS has calculated its
position. The 3d symbol will be lit in the bottom of the display.
3. Press COMPASS-button (FIG. 008) and the Multi-Navigator
TM
points out the direction to your ”**HOME**”
position with the built-in electronic compass and also shows you the distance.(FIG. 007)
4. Hold the Multi-Navigator
TM
horizontally in front of you (check the bubble level on the Multi-NavigatorTM) and
turn around in the direction shown by the left/right arrows. When facing in the correct direction - start your trip
back to ”**HOME**”.
5. In order to save batteries you can switch off the Multi-Navigator
TM
with a long press on the ON-button
(FIG. 002).
6. When the Multi-Navigator
TM
is shut off and you want to check the compass direction towards your starting
position (your **HOME**) just press and hold the compass button and face in the direction indicated on the
display. Now you have checked the compass direction that was valid the last time the Multi-Navigator
TM
calculated its position, using the GPS receiver. If you want an update of the data valid for your current position,
you must start the Multi-Navigator
TM
by pressing the ON/OFF (FIG. 002). button. Wait a few seconds for the
GPS receiver to calculate its position before checking the direction to go, in the compass function by pressing
