Troubleshooting
This chapter tells you how to troubleshoot your hardware. Specifically, it covers:
•
troubleshooting to see if you have a faulty part
•
ordering a new part
•
removing the faulty part
•
installing the new part
Overview
There are four ways to diagnose hardware problems:
•
Power-on tests
—
tests your major hardware parts as the system boots up. If a part is
faulty, the system notifies you with the LED and error messages.
•
Diagnostic tests —more comprehensive tests of your system’s hardware. The
system informs you if it finds a faulty part.
•
Confidence tests
—use
d if you think you have a problem with your keyboard,
mouse, or monitor, or with a peripheral. The confidence tests verify which parts are
working correctly.
