You will receive the PAK code in a .REG file which you can quickly import into the
system. The PAK code is also printed on the License of Use that came with the
hardware key and can be entered manually.
While importing your PAK code [➙ 30] is the fastest and easiest way to activate
your key, the following sections describe the different ways that you can activate it:
Converting a .TXT file to activate PAK [➙ 31]
Activating the hardware key by manually entering the PAK code [➙ 32]
4.3.1.1
Attaching the hardware key
1. Attach the hardware key to a USB or parallel port (depending on key model).
2. Launch the PAK Manager:
Start >Programs >DMS8000 >PAK Manager
The PAK Manager window displays. If correctly detected, the key number is
displayed in the Connected Hw key section.
Distributed client/server system and multi-user and/or Remote
Composer environment
In case of distributed client/server system, you need to install only one key on the
server (Stand-alone) station. The same applies to multi-user and/or remote
Composer environment. Client and FEP stations do not require any key.

Activating the hardware key by importing the .REG file
1. Copy the file on your local computer disk.
2. Launch the PAK Manager:
Start > Programs > DMS8000 > PAK Manager.
The PAK Manager window displays.
3. Select the menu command File > Import PAK.

A file browsing window displays.
4. Locate and select the .REG file and click Open.
5. Confirm that you want to merge the new codes in the system registry.
