Ê
Slide the OLR shuttle into the bay where the defective drive used to be.
Ê
Push against the frame of the OLR shuttle (not against the handle!) until the
handle locks into place. The frame is easier to push into place if you slightly lift
the handle.
The new drive must be installed in the same place as the defective drive
used to occupy, as otherwise the automatically allocated address of the
drive will be incorrect.
Once you have replaced the drive, reassemble the peripherals cabinet as described
in its operating instructions.
6.5
Configuring a replacement drive
Once you have installed the replacement drive:
Ê
Answer
yes
to the query
Exchanging disk done?
.
If you enter
no
, the installation procedure is aborted.
Once the replacement procedure has been completed, a background process
performs a hardware analysis of the new drive, accompanied by appropriate
messages on your monitor. Then, also in the background, the mirrored drives are
equalized. Depending on the volume of data and the number of drives, it may take
quite a long time (up to an hour) before drive mirroring is fully restored. All files
remain accessible to users throughout the installation period.
If you are operating with a RAID setup, you must use the
RAIDmaster Storage Manager
to configure the replacement drive (see the “RAIDmaster - System -Administrator’s
Guide”).
