Moving the system unit
Ê
Before moving the system unit to another location, back up all the data stored
on the hard disks, because data may be lost during transport. For instructions
on backing up data, refer to the Reliant UNIX or SINIX V5.42 “System Admin-
istrator’s Guide”
Ê
Shut down the operating system.
Ê
Remove any floppy disks, cartridges and CD-ROMs from the drives.
Ê
Switch off the system unit and the peripherals and pull out all power plugs.
Ê
Check that the connecting cables are marked in a way that will enable you to
reconnect them correctly.
Ê
Disconnect all the cables.
Ê
Remove the stabilizers.
Ê
For safety’s sake you should transport each device separately.
Transport the system unit in its original packaging. Make sure that the system unit is
not subjected to any shock or impact in transit, as this may damage the hard disk
drive.
When installing the system unit at its new location, check that the line
voltage is correctly.
Moving the monitor
Transport the monitor in its original packaging. In view of the risk of CRT implosion,
the monitor must be protected against mechanical impact.
Moving the peripherals cabinet
The SNI Service department will carry out transport and installation for you.
