Connection of active sensors
6.3.1
Electro-sensitive protective equipment
You have three options for connecting ESPE to the UE 440/470:
$
You can connect the OSSD of the ESPE to the dual channel inputs (see Fig. 25).
$
You can connect the ESPE via EFI, and the OSSD status is passed on to the safety
controller via device communication depending on the configuration in the CDS (see
Fig. 26).
$
You can connect the ESPE to the dual channel inputs of the safety controller and via EFI
(corresponds to SDL) (see Fig. 27). The OSSD status is passed on to the safety controller
via the OSSD inputs, and the other status information is passed on to it (depending on
the configuration in the CDS) via EFI.
If the OSSD status is passed on to the UE 440/470 via EFI, the response time of the
OSSDs of the safety controller increases due to the transfer time. Take this into account
when planning the safety distance/protective field size of the connected ESPE (see
Chapter 11.1 "Response times of OSSDs A and B" on Page 86).
