Unplugging DirectHD Cable
1.
Stop the device.
2.
Unplug the DirectHD cable from the AL series and host computer.
The DirectHD READY lamp will turn off.
Password Function
You can use the password function to protect against unauthorized access to the hard
disk of the AL series by the DirectHD function.
Setting User Password
Set a user password of the AL series in the Setup Utility. (See Chapter 5.)

If you have set a user password on the AL series, prevent the host
computer from entering the standby or hibernation mode. When the
host computer resumes, the DirectHD function may not work properly.
•
A supervisor password cannot work for the password function. Be sure
to set a user password to enable the function.
Canceling User Password
When a user password is set on the AL series, the AL series is not recognized as an
external hard disk of the host computer. You need to cancel the user password
temporarily to use the AL series as an external hard disk. The canceling should be
performed on the host computer.
