2.3.2 Voice Trunk Line Module
This section describes the modules offering the voice service of trunk lines.
2.3.2.1 TEPRI
The T1E1PRI (TEPRI) module provides the digital trunk line. A TEPRI module provides
E1, T1, ISDN and PRI, and functions as the Q-SIG. This module transmits voice via the
trunk line and a channel transmits the voice data at 64 Kbps.
Main Functions
The TEPRI voice trunk line module performs the following functions:

Selects function for T1/E1/PRI signal processing through programming

A resistance circuit that satisfies both T1 (100

) and E1 (120

y
Surge protection (International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standard)

Output port protection for line monitors
y
Jitter function that satisfies ITU-T I.431 and G.703

Selectable line codecs (HDB3, AMI)

Local/remote loop

HDLC or Common Associated Signalling (CAS) through Common Channel Signalling
(CCS)
