2.3.1 Control Modules
This section describes the configuration and functions of the MP40 and LP40 control mod-
ules.
2.3.1.1 MP40
(
Main Control Module)
MP40 is the main control module for all functions of the OfficeServ 7400 and is mounted
in slot 3 of the basic chassis. The MP40:
y
performs voice switching and signal processing;
y
controls subscribers’ station management functions;
y
performs system booting and data management functions;
y
recognizes/monitors/controls the modules mounted in the universal slot of the expan-
sion chassis through IPC by connecting to the LP40 in the expansion chassis of the Of-
ficeServ 7400, or the LCP in the expansion chassis of an OfficeServ 7200.
The MP40 is connected to the LAN Interface Module (LIM) via the LAN Interface on the
front panel to drive various applications. The flexibility of the system is improved by ac-
commodating the VoIP function, and the load on the system is balanced by using a control
module for each chassis. IPC between chassis uses the HDLC protocol to increase the reli-
ability.
