How to set up the Screen Ratios
As DVD supplies the screen with a 16:9 ratio, you can decide which type of
screen you want to watch.

For instance, setting up ‘4:3 PAN-SCAN’

Press the SET UP/MUTE Button while
in the STOP mode.

ress the UP or DOWN Button
to go to the DISPLAY mode.

Press the ENTER Button.

Press the UP or DOWN
Buttons to select ‘4:3 PAN-SCAN’.

Press the ENTER Button.

4:3 PAN-SCAN is selected and
screen returns to SETUP MENU.
Press SETUP button when
done.

The Screen Ratio settings
depend on What is encoded
on the disc.

What are the
16:9 & 4:3 ratios?
•
They're the screen ratios.
The normal TV ratio is ‘4:3’,
‘16:9’ is the ratio of wide TV
and is also the ratio used in
movie theaters.
When do you select
‘4:3 letter box’?
•
Select when you want to see
the total 16:9 ratio screen
DVD supplies, even though
you have a TV with a 4:3
ratio screen. The top and
bottom of the
picture will be black.
When do you select
‘4:3 pan-scan’?
•
You have a TV with 4:3
screen and you want to see
the central portion of the
16:9 screen (sides of movie
picture will be cut off.)
