and use cap screws (5-904-4) already removed as jacking screws.
e. Next, pull out the complete shaft assembly, including shaft (5-007 -0), bearing housing (5-025-4),
bearings (5-026-3 & 5-026-4), and oil slinger (5-485-0). Outboard bearing (5-026-4) for F4Gl &
F4Jl frames is double-row angular contact ball bearing and is held in housing by snap ring (5-915-
4). Outboard bearing (5-026-4) for F4Hl frame consist of two angular contact ball bearing (back-to-
back) held in housing by retaining ring (5-225-4).
f. To remove the bearing housing for F4G 1 & F4J 1 frames take out the snap ring (5-915-4) using a
pair of snap ring pliers. Then slide bearing housing free of the bearing and shaft. To remove the
bearing housing fromF4H 1 frame loosen and remove screws (5-904-9) securing retaining ring (5-
225-4) to bearing housing. The "O" -ring (5-914-4) can be removed from the bearing housing.
g. Oil seal (5-177-4), pressed into bearing housing, is removed next. Bearing cover (5-018-3) with seal
(5-177-3) can also be removed from inboard end of the frame, if desired.
h. To remove the outboard bearing, bend the tab(s) up on the lockwasher (5-517-4). Remove locknut
(5516-4) and lockwasher by turning the nut counterclockwise. A standard bearing puller can then
be used to remove the bearings from both ends of the shaft.
i. Remove oil slinger (5-485-0).
B. PARTS INSPECTION
When the pump is dismantled for any reason, it is recommended that all parts be inspected for wear or
damage. Check the following, and replace parts where necessary.
1. CASING
All machined surfaces should be cleaned. The main casing joint should be free of rust, burrs or
raised surfaces. Check for evidence of extreme wear or corrosion.
2. IMPELLER
Check the impeller vanes for signs of wear, breakage or corrosion. Check threads for burrs.
3. STUFFING BOX COVER
Clean the machined surfaces and gasket joint. Make sure that stuffing box cavity is clean.
4. BEARING HOUSING
Clean the machined surfaces. Check threaded portion for corrosion, burrs or damage.
5. ADJUSTING NUT
Clean the machined surfaces. Check threaded portion for burrs or damage.
6. FRAME, ADAPTER, AND BEARING HOUSING
Check machined bores, clean interior of oil reservoir. Replace oil sight glass gauge if damaged or
discoloured. Make sure inboard oil return is clean.
7. MECHANICAL SEAL
Check the sealing faces and gaskets. Sealing faces must show no evidence of wear. Any cracked or
chipped seal face should be replaced. Refer to specific seal manufacturer's instructions.
8. SHAFT SLEEVE
The shaft sleeve must be smooth. If grooved, it should be replaced
.
9. SHAFT
Check all rotating close-clearance surfaces for wear. Check to see if shaft is straight, within
