SECTION VII. SERVICING

A. DISASSEMBLY:
1. Wet end:
a. Close the discharge and suction valves.
b. Lock out power to the driver.
c. Disconnect the power source from the driver, following proper safety precautions.
d. Turn off seal water supply and disconnect piping to stuffing box. The casing (2-001-0) may be left
in the process line assembled to the suction and discharge piping when repair or replacement is not
required.
e. Open drain plug and drain casing. Casing drain is optional.
f. Remove spacer portion of coupling. If the pump is to be completely dismantled, remove the pump
half coupling, key, and the spacer portion. (See coupling manufacturing instructions). The motor
half coupling may be left assembled. If the pump is V-Belt driven, remove driven sheave and belt.
g. Support the rotating element with a hook and sling under the adaptor top web and shaft at the
coupling end.
h. Remove nuts (2-903-0) from studs that secure the rotating element to the casing. Separate the
rotating element from the casing with jacking screws. Remove the casing gasket (2-123-0).
Impeller Removal:
i. To remove impeller (4-005-0), hold the shaft (5007-0) stationary. Turn the impeller counterclock-
wise, using a wrench on the hex head provided at the impeller inlet. A slight pressure exerted on
the impeller in this manner will loosen it sufficiently, allowing it to be turned off by hand. "O" ring
(4-914-0) can be removed from impeller hub.
WARNING:
Never apply heat to impeller to aid in removal. Heating may cause an explosion. Failure to
follow all instructions may result in serious injury, death, or property damage.

j. Loosen and remove the two nuts (6-903-0)securing the gland (6-014-0) and remove it from the
stuffing box (6-036-3). Remove nuts (1-903-0) from studs (1-908-0) securing the stuffing box (6-
