1.4 UMS100/120 configuration for LAN/WAN 

connections 

 

CAUTION

The configuration must take place before installing the device within the LAN as they all 
have the same IP address (192.168.0.31) from the factory by default. Without previous 
configuration, the devices would not be able to communicate individually in the network and 
there would be an IP address conflict. 

The configuration is either done in a central delivery store before they are distributed to the site or it is 
done by a technician on site after the mechanical installation using a service notebook. 
 
A standard PC with a LAN interface and a web browser (e.g. MS Internet Explorer, see chapter 1.3) is 
required for the configuration. 
 
Connect the PC to the UMS100/120 in one of the two following ways:  
 

•

Connect the RJ45 socket on the PC to the corresponding socket on the bottom of the UMS100/120 
to be configured 

directly

 using a 

cross wired

 LAN cable. 

 

•

Connect the RJ45 socket on the PC to the corresponding socket on the bottom of the UMS100/120 
to be configured using an 

uncrossed

 cable by interconnecting a 

simple LAN switch

 or hub. 

 
Then start the UMS100/120 by connecting it to the power supply. 
 
Now start up the PC and set the network card to an IP address within the address range 192.168.0.xxx, 
Subnet. 255.255.255.0, e.g. 192.168.0.11. The 192.168.0.31 IP address may not be used as this is the 
UMS100/120 address (

IP address conflict). 

 
Then start up the web browser. 
 
To open the service tool in UMS100/120, enter the following address in the browser window.
