Activity 9 - Propulsion and Auxiliary Systems
On-board fuel system
Fuel is drawn through filters in the tanks out to the fuel
filter/water separator. Any water in the fuel collects in the
base of the filter. It can be drained off by opening the tap
at the bottom.
The fuel then passes through the changeover blocks.
The fuel lines and blocks are fitted with quick connect
couplings to facilitate the use of one tank for both engines.
This is useful if fuel contamination is suspected in one of
the tanks. The fuel lines should have a green and red band
fitted to define port and starboard tanks.

The fuel lines from the changeover blocks then run straight
to the engines via the priming bulbs.
The tanks are fitted with a vent unit. The same unit as on
the Atlantic 21 and 75 has been used. As only two of the
vents are required, a hose has been fitted to join the inner
two together. The diagram below illustrates the basic
fuel circuit.
NOTE
The high pressure fuel pump will be activated when
the isolator switches are put into the ‘on’ position.
