4.4.2. Parameters
The initial settings of the following parameters are all FF(H) - all the parame-
ters are disabled.
Byte 0
FUNCTION AND COMMENTS
CCITT T1 time
If the connection time to a particular terminal is longer than the NCU parameter setting ,
adjust this byte. The T1 time is the value stored in this byte (in hex code), multiplied by 1
second.
Range:
1 to 127 s (01h to 7Fh)
00h or FFh - The local NCU parameter factory setting is used.
Do not program a value between 80h and FEh.

If communication with a particular remote
terminal often contains errors, the signal level
may be inappropriate. Adjust the Tx level for
communications with that terminal until the
results are better.

Tx level setting
0: Enabled
1: Disabled (bits 0 to 4 must all be
at 1 to disable)
0: When enabling the tx level setting, change
this bit to 0, then change the settings of bits 0
through 3 above.
1: When disabling the tx level setting, change
all of the bits 0 through 4 to 1.

Cable equalizer
Bit 6 Bit 5 Setting
0 0 None
0 1 Low
1 0 Medium
1 1 High
Use a higher setting if there is signal loss at
higher frequencies because of the length of
wire between the modem and the telephone
exchange when calling the number stored in
this Quick/Speed Dial.
Also, try using the cable equalizer if one or
more of the following symptoms occurs.
•
Communication error with error codes such
as 0-20, 0-23, etc.
•
Modem rate fallback occurs frequently.

0: Enabled
1: Disabled (bits 5 to 7 must all be
at 1 to disable)
0: When enabling the cable equalizer setting,
change this bit to 0, then change the settings of
bits 5 and 6 above.
1: When disabling the cable equalizer setting,
change all of the bits 5, 6 and 7 to 1.
