WHAT ARE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS?
The default settings used by THEC64 relate specifically to the computer model, the
joystick port and the screen settings. Loading a compatible file from a USB stick
without any customization will use the following:
•
the default computer model setting is used if the file is auto-loaded. If you
haven’t changed this, it will be set to a NTSC C64 (when Video output is set to
60 Hz) or a PAL C64 (when Video output is set to 50 Hz)
•
the current computer model setting is used if a virtual disk file is first inserted
(Media access only) and then loaded and run using BASIC load and run
commands, explained later
•
joystick port #2 is used for C64 programs (port #1 is available if a second
joystick is connected) or port #1 for VIC 20 programs
•
only standard functions mapped to the joystick buttons are used when running
any program, i.e.

is a
RETURN
key press and
displays the
MENU
•
the default screen settings are used
•
the default loading options are used, including fast loader enabled and
accurate disk disabled (explained later).
FAST LOADER
If the default settings don’t work for your chosen file, then you can try one quick
change with a press of a joystick button.
Whilst in
Media access
or
File loader
, disable the ‘Fast loader’ by pressing
C
.
The Fast Loader icon is crossed-out to indicate this. Now try loading your program
again.
The Fast loader option speeds up loading times if the loading program uses the
