e.g.,
vic-game_MVTN.d64
is for a virtual disk file that contains VIC 20 programs that
run on an NTSC computer model. If it runs on NTSC or PAL, there’s no need to specify
TN
or
TP
.
Which joystick port?
Flag Description
J1
This sets the primary joystick port to #1
J2
This sets the primary joystick port to #2
The only time you need to specify a joystick port using filename flags is for a C64
program that requires port 1 for the primary controller, rather than the default port
2. Note that THEC64 will assign the other joystick port as the secondary controller by
default if it detects two connected controllers. As the VIC 20 only has one port, you
don’t need to specify joystick ports at all using filename flags. Port 1 is assumed by
default.
e.g.
c64-game_M6TPJ1.d64
If you want to change how the joystick buttons behave when running your program,
then you need to create a CJM file rather than using filename flags.
Which disk mode(s)?
Flag
Description
AD
This enables accurate disk mode (slower loading times but more accurate
disk drive loading). This only applies to
d64
or
g64
files and could
prevent other files from loading correctly.
RO
This sets the disk to be read-only (also sometimes called write-protected)
CD
This tells THEC64 that the disk is part of a multi-disk set but is NOT the
first disk. Saved states will then assign to the most recently inserted virtual
disk file that does not have a
CD
flag (which should be the first disk of the
set), rather than assign to this disk file.
Note that you don’t have to use the
CD
flag for multi-disk sets, but it is
useful.
