c) Wheel change
The tires are fixed on the rim, so that they cannot be deta
-
ched from the rim. When the tires are worn-out, the entire
wheel must be replaced.
After loosening the wheel nut (B), pull the wheel out of the
wheel axle (D).
Then the new wheel is placed so that the hex key can get
inside of the rim exactly on the wheel hub nut (A).
Fasten the wheel onto the wheel axle with the wheel nut
(B)that was removed at the beginning. However, do not
use excessive force when tightening, otherwise the wheel
rotates with difficulty, which can damage the drive.
Check also the correct placing of the wheel nut (B) during
tightening. During tightening, the ridged side of the wheel
nut (see image above) must face toward the wheel (the
ridged area of the wheel nut serves as protection against
the accidental loosening of the nut).
Perhaps the wheel hub nut (A) remains stuck in the rim
when pulling off the rear wheel or it detaches from the
wheel axle (D). Then be sure that the carrier pin (C) does
not fall out and gets lost.
Later, when the wheel is placed back, it is important to
check that the carrier pin (C) is inserted exactly in the cen
-
tre of the wheel axle (D) and is located in the correspon
-
ding groove in the wheel hub nut (A).
If the drive pin (C) is missing, no torque from the motor
to the wheel is transmitted and the wheel rotates freely.
