Manual Operation
Manual operation of the R&S UPZ is performed by using the firmware of the controlling
Audio Analyzer.
2.1 Control elements
The R&S UPZ has no manual control elements, except the rear-panel ON/OFF switch.
The signal inputs and outputs, the ON LED and the channel LEDs are located on the
front panel.
The R&S UPZ can easily be controlled via an Audio Analyzer. Another possibility is
operating the R&S UPZ from a commercial PC via the RS-232-C interface provided a
common transfer program is available (e.g. "Tera Term Pro" from T. Teranishi or
"HyperTerminal" from Hilgraeve Inc.).
2.2 Display Elements
The R&S UPZ is equipped with several front-panel LEDs. They have the following
functions:
ON
This LED lights up immediately after power-up and indicates that it is ready for
operation.
Channel LEDs
Each input or output channel from 1 to 8 is fitted with two LEDs, i.e. a green one and
an yellow one. They correspond to the single green LED of the busbar labelled
A
and
to the single yellow LED of the busbar labelled
B
.
If, for example, the green LED of channel 5 lights up (and the green LED in A), channel
5 is connected to busbar
A
. Similarly, the connection to busbar B is indicated by the
yellow LED lighting up for channel 8.
If no channel is selected in a R&S UPZ (e.g. by channel No. 0 or a channel that is
outside of the specified channel range), the busbar LED
A
or
B
goes out.
